This is a presentation that NCDC director Tom Karl gave at an AMS policy briefing in DC earlier this month (May 6) on NOAA’s US and global temp record products. If you’ve ever been curious as to how the record is compiled, or how things like time of observation or rural vs. urban station adjustments are made, the presentation is quite accessible.
